Apparently DTN thinks that there is some validity to this website because they have begun hiring people to leave fictitious comments! Sneaky and underhanded? Absolutely! Unfortunately, this is norm for DTN Management Company.

You've VotedRATE THIS COMMENTI was simply looking up a neighbors phone number tonight to let them know they'd left their garage door up by accident, to find these comments. I have to say since I've lived here (3 yrs), my experience has been incredible. The interaction with the staff and management has been positive. When there has been any type of service or area of concern (whether it be clubhouse activities during the summer, etc.) they're attentive and have done something about it. Norm keeps the place looking incredible. I have friends in the apartment condos, condos on Sierra Heights and townhomes - all pleasant comments, we enjoy our community here at Aspen. Yes, it's a little pricier living perhaps, but worth it. Thanks Marco, Baron and Shawn for helping to protect our investments here!

You've VotedRATE THIS COMMENTMy wife and I moved into Aspen Lakes thinking we were going to be living in one of the premiere apartments in Lansing. The only thing premiere about Aspen Lakes is the price ($1,350 / month for a three bedroom). The apartment building we moved into was brand new, we were the first tenants in the apartment. From day one, the maintenance staff was rude. The entry door had a bathroom type handle on it so you didn't need a key to get in, just a paper clip. When I called maintenance they said that was impossible that that type of handle was installed. The same week we moved in, another couple moved in above us. Because the apartment was a larger footprint than the one above, we ended up with two different tenants above us. The couple that moved in the same weekend was so loud we thought they were playing basketball. The apartment of the other tenant was situated in such a way that the kitchen was above our MASTER bedroom. Not good when the tenant is a night owl and wears hard soled shoes on the hard kitchen floor. Needless to say, we were glad when the tenant went out of town because that was the only time that we had a chance to get a full nights sleep. We have two children, three years and an infant. By the time we moved out, our older child was so scared of sleeping in her room because of the noise. We mentioned the noise problems to management and they said that could not be as no one else had complained and that we were in a brand new building. Next we encountered a leak from above apartment that never was correctly addressed. The maintenance guy kept telling us that it would be correct, it did finally dry up but the ceiling remained stained for the duration of our stay.
The final straw, was the furnace that malfunctioned. It spewed black soot throughout the apartment and then the maintenance guy tried to tell us that the candle that my wife burned caused the soot. Come to find out the filter was never changed causing the furnace to burn rich.
The only nice thing that they did was let us out of the lease early because of the numerous problems that we had.
This is an overpriced apartment complex that I would not recommend.Source: Apartment Ratings - Renter Beware! Unhappy With Bad Managment, Unit Problems+9 votesdavidrmoulton@gmail. from Someplace - 3 years ago

You've VotedRATE THIS COMMENTAfter four months all I can do is look forward to moving out. I am paying a fortune to live in a place that I've grown to hate. The day they barged in on my wife unannounced was the day that I started trying to find a way to leave... read the lease if you are thinking about this place, it does a very good job of limiting your right to leave.
In my opinion the management is useless. I have had to ask repeatedly for every single work request to be completed. Currently we are waiting for the mold clean up to be started... its been 12 days.
Beginning in July 2007 we have had to have them:
service the refrigerator (it either froze the food or it spoiled)
fix the washer (the agitator broke)
attach the closet doors to the tracks
attach the carpet to the stairs fix the shelves in the kitchen, they were mounted incorrectly
attach (repeatedly) the toilet seat
fix the blinds
fix the thermostat
check/fix the insulation (never did this and the room is freezing)
provide an extra key (claimed that they had to replace the locks)
clean up the mold in the garage
remove the standing water in the garage
We've also asked that they deal with the wasps that have infested the walls outside our deck - I am thinking the cold weather will get to the wasps before Aspen Lakes does.
Also, I've repeatedly asked that they replace light bulbs in the outside lighting... it took three months to replace a couple bulbs (these people "care" about your safety.
Finally to add to the irritation we were locked out the day we moved in, the management agreed to leave the unit open so we could get in because we were coming from another state, nothing like 2 hours in a parking lot in the middle of the night with a 1 year old baby after a four hour drive.Source: Apartment Ratings - do NOT live here!!+1 votesvualum13 from Someplace - 3 years ago

You've VotedRATE THIS COMMENTI would definitely not reccommend living here! The management does a great job of making it seem like they care when you tour the complex however after you move in they dissapear. The apartments are poorly contructed, have the lowest end applicances they could find from GE and it is certainly not worth the extrememly high rent that they charge. Do not let the first impression of the nice grounds fool you, that is the only nice part of living here. If you value the safety of your family you will find another place to rent.

You've VotedRATE THIS COMMENTI have lived at Aspen Lakes for a year and a half. Up until recently my husband and I really enjoyed living here. Within the last couple of months Aspen Lakes has gone down hill! We used to enjoy spending time at the clubhouse and laying out by the pool. Now we have to pay a fee if we want to have get togethers at the clubhouse, ever if it involves other residents! And the swimming pool is filled with wild teenagers who do nothing but swear and use drugs when they think no one is looking. The grounds look horrible, half the time the grass is so long that my dog can't go to the bathroom. When they do mow it doesn't get mowed evenly and looks awful! Also there is construction constantly, seven days a week. It is loud and dusty. I can't even take my daughter for walks in the afternoon because of the large semis driving all over. This has been going on since we moved here! The new manager does not seem to care about any of this. We continue to complain and nothing gets done!

You've VotedRATE THIS COMMENTI have been a tenant here for over 2 years. Up until recently I would go lay out at the pool, play pool inside, work out or use the computers. Now, when I go up to the clubhouse, I see young women loosing their swim suits in the pool, drug deals at the clubhouse and a management office that does not seem to care.
The few dealings that I have had with the new manager have not been the most pleasant. She talks like a 5 year old child and then continues to treat me like one. I am an adult paying over $1000 a month for rent!! Treat me as such!!! Don't ask her for anything, cause she'll take her time getting it to you if she ever does!
As far as noise, I live on a first floor and can hear my neighbors upstairs all day and night! I am starting to wonder if it's just wood with no insulation and no carpet up there or what'!
This place is going down quick! If you want to learn how to build a million dollar asset and watch it go to hell in a hand basket in less than six months, you can take lessons from DTN.Source: Apartment Ratings - Stay AWAY!!!+6 votes-Anonymous- from Someplace - 4 years ago

You've VotedRATE THIS COMMENTI have lived at Aspen Lakes for over 2 years. Up until last month it was a great place to live. I have always had luck with those in the office and the guys who work here, up until the new manager started.
Since she came in last month all I have heard about is how everything is changing. Hours on the clubhouse that I pay to use, rentals of the clubhouse, which again, I pay to use and other nit picky things.
The old manager respected our rights as tenants and as long as we played by the rules, we were allowed to use the clubhouse. Now, there are kids smoking pot and vandelizing the place left and right. And what has the new manager done....NOTHING!!....
As a tenant, I miss the old manager. Too bad DTN made the mistake of getting rid of her. Now all of the good tenants are leaving right behind.Source: Apartment Ratings
