Apparently DTN thinks that there is some validity to this website because they have begun hiring people to leave fictitious comments! Sneaky and underhanded? Absolutely! Unfortunately, this is norm for DTN Management Company.

You've VotedRATE THIS COMMENTThe subject line says it all. Shitty apartments for a shitty price, I've come to the realization that this place is just trying to make money off of me, that's it - there's no "welcoming community," and I don't think I talked to one Abbott Pointe employee who knew his/her head from his/her ass. ESPECIALLY the people higher up the chain, in management. Dealing with them was ALWAYS an absolute nightmare. I'd write in more detail, but honestly I am disgusted by this place. Suffice to to say my roommate and I are looking to cancel our lease.

You've VotedRATE THIS COMMENTthe only good thing i can say about this apartment complex is the fact that its close to campus. I have had numerous problems with my apartment and maintenance will just enter without permission while im gone ! when i call and talk to someone they were not being very helpful so i get the "manager" on the phone and she was a fucking bitch. i dont know how she or anyone else working for this company can sleep at night !

You've VotedRATE THIS COMMENTI was going to leave a long thoughtful comment but I see that so many others already have!
I just wanted to say: nothing has changed. I am sorry I live here and can't wait to move out in the spring. - Toilet Water from our Upstairs Neighbor was leaking in my Roommate's Bedroom and More!!!!!+1 votes-Anonymous- from Someplace - 4 years ago

You've VotedRATE THIS COMMENTWe had so many issues while living in this apartment. First, our upstairs neighbor's toilet flooded over and the toilet water began to leak through my roommate's ceiling and got all over her clothes in her closet and carpet. However, the manitence did come by quickly and he did inform us that it was toilet water and he sprayed cleaning solution on the carpet and dried it with that famous big blue fan.
2nd, sometimes I had to turn on the water in the bathroom sink in order to get hot water for the shower. Also, there was no fan in the bathroom but a window up above the tub. Since, we didn't have a fan, we will open the window after a shower to avoid mold accept for the winter because the window was frozen. However, opening up the window didn't even help because the mold started to accumulate. And when the summer came, there was an ant farm in our tub but I was able to prevent more from coming by spraying lysol around the window edges twice a day.
3rd, We lived on the ground level, so when it rained, water from the outside was leaking or should I say draining into our kitchen. The carpet was soaked in our kitchen and it happened everytime it rained until the gutters were fixed. However, the maintence man did come everytime and sprayed his cleaning solution and dried it with the big blue fan but then the apartment will start to smell like pee and mildew since they probably never thoroughly cleaned the carpet.
4th, our floor level was not even leveled correctly, it was lopsided, so I couldn't even put a DVD tower stand up without it falling down.
5th, my roommate's car got broken into and her car stereo was stolen.
However, I thought the staff was nice, maintence did come quick depending on the issue if not, then I will complained twice about it then they will come. I did like the location, it wasn't too far from campus and it was on the #26 bus route which ran every ten minutes. The monthly rent was about $364.50 including cable, heat, and water which I thought was reasonable. Are electricty bill a month average a total of $24.00 and I thought that was cheap.
Overall, I will not move back here again and I do not recommend anyone to move here due to all the issues in the apartment. ITS NOT WORTH IT!!!!!

You've VotedRATE THIS COMMENTDTN is the worst Management company ever. They will not work with you on anything. The turnover rate is staggeringly high inside the office. The Cold water is so hot it will burn you in the winter because the plumbing lines were run next to the boiler. The current manager is absolutely incompetant and unwilling to do anything for anyone. Now they are instituting a parking permit system and have no public parking.(They will tow you right away) That means if anyone wants to visit you they will have to park across Abbott Rd. and walk to your apartment.
They took two years to fix the roof on our building. It would have been longer but the ceiling started caving in on people.
This group of clowns is awful to deal with. DO NOT RENT FROM DTN Management for any reason. They are the worst.Source: Apartment Ratings - Don't move here!+1 votesholytoledo77@yahoo.c from Someplace - 4 years ago

You've VotedRATE THIS COMMENTThis place is a disaster for whomever may move in. I lived there for about four years. DTN took over for about the last year I lived there, and man do they SUCK! We had water damage from the ceiling in the living room, kitchen, and bathroom. In the kitchen there was a hole above the sink light fixture about the size of a quarter, and it took over a month for them to patch it.I guess the possibility of electrical fire was not a big concern to them. The air conditioning unit sucked, so they waited until we had a month left on our lease to install a new one. The blinds were cheaper than dirt and frequently fell off, as well as the sliding doors on the closets. To top it all off, they basically stole money. When we moved in we did not have to pay a security deposit, and that was one of the perks. On our lease it said we had to pay through June, and our moveout date was July 24. I accidentally paid the months rent for July, and rather than give me that money back, they opted to hold it as if it were the security deposit. I don't know the legality of that move, but to me it is shady as hell. Most security deposits are $200, and my rent was $347. So why would they keep that' That was the icing on the cake that showed me what kind of place they are running. They will try to take every penny you have, the quality of the apartment is shoddy, and I think they are basically crooks. I'm still waiting for that rent check and it has been almost a month since I moved out. They suck, please don't think it is a nice place because it will quickly turn on you. Oh yeah, parking sucks ass too, good luck finding a spot.

You've VotedRATE THIS COMMENTEverything seems like it was falling apart at this place, and it takes forever for the guy to fix it. We had birds living in our porch roof the whole year, our water wouldnt turn cold in the kitchen, the closet doors in our bedroom stayed open all year b/c they didnt slide, oh and the heater that hardly worked banged all winter long. I dont know if they just gave us a ---- apt. or if all of them are like this, who knows. I would probably say live somewhere else, but it looks like the person below me thinks its perfect.

You've VotedRATE THIS COMMENTIt took less than a year for me to want to get the heck out of here and move somewhere I wasn't paying through the nose when basic things didn't work right.
1) The thermostat on the wall doesn't seem to have any relevance to how hot the heat actually is. The heat's been off and the radiators have been warm to hot for *hours*, and I've had the heat on and the radiators have been cold. Heat's not covered in the rent. I've had to have my bedroom window open every night to some degree so the temp doesn't get up to 75, 76 (I keep the thermostat at 70 and the door is open all night). I've never needed a blanket, I sleep in my lightest summer nightgown, sometimes a sheet and mid-weight quilt are too much. Did I mention you pay for heat'
2) Regularly, you'll get hot water when you turn on the cold water. Happens at least once, maybe twice a week. I heard months ago they were having a plumber look at that and take care of it.
3) It is NOT quiet here on weekends. I do not care what they tell you, it's not. The huge bulk of it is loud, drunken people walking past your building talking VERY LOUDLY until about 3am. You'll also hear people screaming at each other on their balconies or talking to each other VERY LOUDLY and they get pissy when you ask them to be quieter so you can sleep. Bass from another building has had my windows vibrating before. Some guy was getting his butt seriously kicked on the sidewalk in front of my apartment in the fall. I much prefer to just put in earplugs than ask people to quiet down, but I've had the non-emergency number for the police taped up by my phone since the fall for when it's loud and making it hard, if not impossible, for me to sleep in the early morning.
4) The paint job sucks. There are white fingerprints on one bedroom door, paint specks on all the doors, paint on the closet doors, and I can tell in some areas where the paint was applied over something.
5) I was a fool to sign on for $705/month for a kitchen that doesn't have enough counter and cupboard space and rooms so small that I had to get two bedrooms so I'd have somewhere to put my desk. I've lived in a one-bedroom at least fifty percent larger and I paid hundreds less for it.
DTN vastly overcharges in light of the quality of the apartments they rent out. They have a monopoly in the East Lansing area, so you're kind of stuck, but go somewhere not run by DTN if you can.Source: Apartment Ratings - Just moved in, and already aprehensive+1 voteshoppytoad79 from Someplace - 6 years ago

You've VotedRATE THIS COMMENTI'm on the third floor, and the air *does not* work. Thank God I have an a/c unit of my own, and I plan to have it installed by my dad when my parents arrive with my furniture. No way I'm waiting on maintenance, after what I've read in previous reviews.
The kitchen is small, but it should be fine. I have vinyl flooring in the kitchen/dining area. All the rooms are decent sized, and considering the area, the price is fair. We'll see if what I've read about the hot water proves to be true.Source: Apartment Ratings - Look Elseware+1 votes-Anonymous- from Someplace - 7 years ago

You've VotedRATE THIS COMMENTThe maintenance for this appartment complex is horrible. I had a leak in the kitchen ceiling that created a hole 8 inches in diameter and it took the maintenance people over a month to fix it. They never fix anything that I report to them when it is outside the appartment (broken rails, loose carpet). Then only clean the place about once a month. The managment(DTN) here is horrible. They are refusing to comply with the terms of my lease. I am having problems that I might have to take to court. About a year ago they got into trouble because one of the appartment buildings caught on fire. The appartment managment had shut off the fire suppression systems for that building and the fire spread. After the fire marshall did a fire inspection of the other buildings they found that at least two buildings had the same problem.
If you are looking for a place to live I would consider looking elseware. This place really really sucks.Source: Apartment Ratings - Maintenance is TERRIBLE - be careful+1 voteskruthjam from Someplace - 7 years ago

You've VotedRATE THIS COMMENTConsidering the location, and what I was paying in rent - I expected this apartment to be a little older - and perhaps have a few more problems. Unfortunately, I underestimated just how many problems I would actually have. When I moved in the apartment was somewhat dirty. The refrigerator shelf was broken - the shower head was attached to the wall, BUT the chunk of wall it was attached to was not attatched to the rest of the wall - the toilet wasn't sealed firmly to the floor - the tile was mildewed - the mailbox was broken... none of these things would have been so bad - but I spent the entire year I was there hounding the maintenance to get it fixed. Most of the problems did not get fixed - about six months later when the ceiling in the bathroom began to leak it (presumably from the shower above me) it took me 3 days to presuade the maintenance crew to actually come out. When they did, it was when I was at work - and they left the door unlocked - not once, but twice - once after I complained. The heat in the apartment also was erratic at best. I was never too cold - but often times had to open windows in the dead of winter just to cool the place off. On top of all this - the storage lockers they offer were a find one that's unlocked and through away all the crap that's in it situation - then lock it and hope you don't get all your crap thrown away.
In short - decent location - decent apartment - terrible maintenance, and customer service. Be very careful when moving in.Source: Apartment Ratings - Nightmare on Abbott+1 votes-Anonymous- from Someplace - 8 years ago

You've VotedRATE THIS COMMENTI would never recommend this apartment complex to anyone...We lived there for a year and in that time it seemed like the entire complex went to hell. One of the buildings burnt down! No one ever came to fix things when they broke...and that's if you can get ahold of anyone seeing as how basically every afternoon the staff took a 2 hour lunch break and left early everynight...and pay no attention to that sign that says "Be back at --:-- because it's been set to that time for days! We started repairing things ourselves to same time...like our toilet, the shower, and even the front door! During the winter they decided to change all of the hinges on the front door and while the man they contracted out to change them was installing the new hinges he told me that the door did not fit into the door frame and if someone wanted they could give a good swift kick and be inside! The outside doors are not locked and there are no lights in the parking lot for saftey at night. In the spring our rain gutters clogged and everytime it rained our balcony flooded so bad that there was an 1" on standing water soaking everything out there. The laundry facility in the basement was disgusting and you felt like you were going to be mugged everytime you went down there. People were really gross too...they would leave there garbage out in the hall for a couple of days and the halls were always dirty and smelled bad. The "workout facility" was full of broken equipment that they were always in the process of replacing (I've talked to people that have told me that the equipment has broken for years!) and the pool had to be closed down for chemical reasons! So...if you're not into living in a total dive do NOT live here...the cheap price is tempting I know...but it's so low for reason!

You've VotedRATE THIS COMMENTI've lived here for 3 years now. I have a top floor apartment.
Our heat went out for a week once, I wasn't putting up with that and got $20 per day the heat was out. Fine with me. Know you rights people.
I had a broken screen that I called quite a few times about - 6 weeks later the guy came to check my plumbing because someone else was having a problem and he didn't even know about the screen (but he fixed it that day).
The water used to be real bad - meaning it would fluctuate alot in temp - but it's been better.
One of the dryers is constantly broken, but we just never try that one anymore.
Parking lot lighting is a serious issue. Right by my apartment is very dark because the closest light is blocked by a tree.
Another issue is security. This is an issue in two ways. First they have a bikerack over in the dark between a dumpster and a fence where no windows can see it. Can you say thief heaven' It only took 1 day for my fiance's bike to have a wheel stolen when he left it there.
The other issue is the buildings themselves. The doors do not lock, the basement storage areas are made from a wood that is about as sturdy as card board - theft from those storage bins is a constant occurence - I'm lucky in that mine is right by a door so the thief would have to worry about someone walking in. Also in the basement there is no screen covering the window where the laundry is - this window is level with the ground. That means that thieves, squirrels, spiders, whatever could just waltz on in through the window. Who ever thought of putting a window level with the ground and not have a screen on it' (the window is also almost always open).
Good Things:
1. Heat/Water included.
2. Right by bus stop.
3. Cheap compared to other places.
4. Straight shot up abbott to campus - easy access to Saginaw for going to Okemos or Lansing.
5: Open/Free parking.
6: Relaxed about rules as far as pets/decorations. I once looked at a place and every question I asked was "Against Company Policy." Here they just said "Thats fine."
If they could just lock the laundry doors and move the bike rack I'd feel a whole lot better about this place.
Still, I'm on my third lease for a reason. Its a pretty big apartment for only $624 a month.
Oh and I agree - the office staff can at times be useless.Source: Apartment Ratings - NOTHING good about these apartments!+1 votes-Anonymous- from Someplace - 8 years ago

You've VotedRATE THIS COMMENTThe sewer line broke and they did not fix it for SIX WEEKS. We could not use the water in the kitchen for over a week and had to wash the dishes in the bathtub. Our kitchen carpet was wet from sewage for weeks. The plumbers came, dug a huge hole right outside our door, and then left for a week. That didn't get fixed for four weeks. The windows didn't lock and had no screens. Our heat didn't work at all, so finally they "fixed" it and the apartment was 85 the entire winter even though we had the heat turned off all the way and called the office several times. The refrigerator leaked and the bottom shelf was covered with water the entire time we lived there. We told them about it in August and when we moved out in May it still wasn't fixed. And there was a fire that destroyed six apartments in another building. The walls are so thin that when the neighbors opened their door it sounded like someone was coming in our apartment. So many things went wrong I can't even remember them all. Do not live here! They are awful landlords!

You've VotedRATE THIS COMMENT-If you want air, your out of luck. It barely works, if at all.
-It is pitch black in the parking lot at night.
-Some of the office staff are so rude it is ridiculous, I have been told numerous times that whatever my problem is with the apartment will have to wait till they get around to it.
-Some of the laundry facility does not work.
-The heat was out atleast three times this winter and the fastest it was back on was one day.
-Maintenance will do their job POSSIBLY, if you can get them to show up (due to some office staff i'm thinking)
-Screens are missing, so if you open the windows (b/c air not working) bugs get in.
-I've been renting in east lansing from undergrad through grad school and this was the worst place i've lived in. It looks nice, but your even better off in the dorms.Source: Apartment Ratings - Never move here!!!+1 votes-Anonymous- from Someplace - 8 years ago

You've VotedRATE THIS COMMENTThis place sucks!! Management is rude, there is carpet on our kitchen floor. We have no dishwasher. There are birds in our "roof" making the most annoying sounds ever and it management almost a year to do something about it. (My roommate stayed there a year before I did). And they didn't even take the birds out!, they just taped up the hole to let them die in the roof!!! We will be leaving when the is up and I do not suggest this apartment complex to anyone.

You've VotedRATE THIS COMMENTOver the years I have lived here the last two have been the worst. The management will tell you one thing and do another. The so called maintenance men as the are called are slow to fix the problem, but do get to it eventualy. The snow removal leaves much to be desired unless you own a 4x4. Aside from all of the things I have listed I would ask to see the exact apartment that you will be living in to see what the overall condition is before signing anything. BuLYzGcKAVo8MQPlcXJq

You've VotedRATE THIS COMMENTI stayed on the bottom level in a two bedroom. First off, I always felt unsafe because it is the type of apartment where the building door is never locked and anyone could walk in. Our apartment door was next to the laundry room which also was never locked. So basically, anyone crazy person could walk in off the street and just chill in the laundry room. (But I am not saying that this has ever happened but it very well could.) I experience the same issues with the water as the other respondents. Hot was never really hot and cold was never really cold. I had to get a portable heater because you could have the dial up to 80 but it would still be freezing in there. Last years ice storms made worse the existing roof and gutter problems causing our ceiling to leak and finally fall in. And we were on the bottom level - go figure! Maintenance and management was very slow to getting around to having it fixed. As a matter of fact, it wasnt fixed until I had to have my mother call and speak with the manager. So basically we were missing half of our ceiling for almost a month. No bad bug problems but we did have centepedes ever once in a while. Oh yeah, one other thing that I found stupid and annoying: you have to mail your rent in although the rental office is in the complex. And they will really try and get an attitude if you bring it in. One more thing: dont bother paying for an apartment with a dishwasher - it doesnt work anyway.
Source: Apartment Ratings - ugghhhh....+1 votes-Anonymous- from Someplace - 9 years ago

You've VotedRATE THIS COMMENTI wasn't sure if I was the only one having problems. But the dishwasher was broken when we moved in, when maintenance came to fix it they left a note that said the cold water is on the right, and the hot water is on the left, when all we called about is the dishwasher. Then they finally fixed it a few weeks later. Also there was a huge ant problem on the bottom level, which was supposedly fumagated before we moved in, but the super ants survived it all, and then they sent in 3 different exterminators but couldn't get rid of the problem. The exercise equipment is supposed to be fixed next week is the standard response, but it had been broken since the summer or 2000. It does have excellent accessibility to the bus, but that was the only positive thing I can say about it. I was thoroughly disappointed with the treatment by managment, maintenence, and some of the neighbors in the building. The water never works right, cold eventually gets hotter as you leave it on, and it is never comfortably cool. Gas is free, but the heaters are electric, and so is the stove/oven. They refused to stop our leaky faucet, but the water bill is covered. Other than that it has adequate room for two people in a two bedroom apartment, there is plenty of parking. Qlkxv6lfLuuXn3BrtpO7

You've VotedRATE THIS COMMENTNice location, nice setting, but deceptive. Maintenance is surly and generally unresponsive. Gigantic icicles last winter were a hazard and caused a wall to collapse, all drainpipes to break off, and falling ice from this caused surrounding damage and risk to those nearby. (The one by me actually crushed a metal shed under it when it fell). "Free heat" means they rudely shut it off according to some predefined calendar date and won't turn it on again until the next predefined calendar date. Apartments contain a sufficient quantity of MSU students to be a problem sometimes in terms of noise, behavior, and general disrespect for others. Exercise room in clubhouse sounds nice, but most of the machines are (and remain) broken. Pool is nice, but sometimes attracts rowdys, drunks, skinny-dippers. Some people have junker cars collecting flat tires. Bus access is good. Location is excellent. Top-notch surrounding neighborhoods, but apartments themselves are approximately upper working-class. Huge problem: hot/cold water erratic and undependable - I've never seen this problem to this extent anywhere else. Mornings, there's NO hot water. Sometimes, I use the cold handle and hot water briefly comes from there, but there's not using the hot handle! I haven't seen any pattern to this yet. SOmetimes cold, warm. Usually cold. Probably related to the hot water heat they have turned off, but it does get hot sometimes. Maybe related to washine machine or dishwasher use!'!'! But it sucks and no one in management or maintenance is the least bit concerned. Window screens suck full of cracks and holes - have seen small silverfish pretty frequently since moving in (from day one), plus some ants and (fortunately only once) a house centipede (ugh!).
